Apartment owners across our city are seeing the light on energy savings thanks to our new SaveNow Multi-Family Energy Efficiency Program. The program is designed to provide free energy saving upgrades to multi-family buildings, making it easier for local renters to reduce their energy usage, ultimately saving them money.
The San Antonio Housing Authority (SAHA) and their clients recently benefited from this program. The Beacon Communities are comprised of SAHA’s affordable multi-family communities with twenty-four properties and a total of 2,912 units, our program is a good energy solution for their communities. “As the largest housing authority in Texas, we are mindful of the footprint of our communities, said Beth Keel, SAHA Sustainability Initiatives Liaison. “We’re making a conscious effort to think green, and that includes efforts to save on water and energy.”
So far, more than 1,200 SAHA units have gone through the Multi-Family program. Each tenant can expect to save an average of 567 kWh, which is approximately a yearly savings of $56.70.
Here’s what the program offers:
Tenants who have an electric water heater may receive:
- ENERGY STAR® LED Light Bulbs
- WaterSense Showerheads
- WaterSense Kitchen and Bathroom Faucet Aerators
- Pipe Wrap
Gas water heater tenants will receive:
- ENERGY STAR® LED Light Bulbs
As part of the program a trained technician will perform the installations for each unit at no cost. Our technicians will always be accompanied by a member of the property’s staff, and our technician will always be in a uniform with proper identification.
Sign up today! In order to qualify for the program the multi-family property should have five or more units. Once signed up, our team will work with the property manager to schedule the direct install of energy efficiency equipment in each unit.
